because my PC was basically put on fire (yea NGL one day I looked at it and there was some smoke ...)

Did your PSU die? Next month, the Ryzen 4xxx series and the Nvidia RTX 3xxx series comes out. Even their low tier stuff will last you a long time (the RTX cards support DLSS 2.0 which can make you play games at 4k even though they are at 1080p and so on.

I'm hoping amd shows off their big navi gpu too before this year ends. Nvidia will still retain the gpu performance crown but amd may still have the price advantage for budget pc gamers

You're not wrong! Had a few Nintendo handhelds as well (GBC/GBA/NDS) though my last one was a NDS phat. Not because I didn't want a 3DS or Switch but because I couldn't afford them as a poor college student lol. But..... yeah, when you've got series as good and diverse as PokƩmon, Ace Attorney, Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing being released almost/exclusively for Nintendo consoles, it's hard not to. Though Vita was best for otome games even that seems to be changing with the Switch.
I'd recommend nvidia 3050 or 3060 if you want good 1080p gaming and video editing. 3060 is rumoured to cost $399 when it gets announced in 10 days
Nah I prefer my PS4 for HQ gaming. I play it on my TV screen so no issues here. TVs are affordable where I live because some are produced locally but as for GPU they're often a lot more expensive. But I owned a NVIDIA way back then and it was great so I have been thinking of what's the cheapest quality brand model I could buy for just basics y'know (pref. AMD though because my CPU is AMD now.)

@Rahzel amd has historically been the cheaper option so i think that's a better choice if you're not a pc gaming enthusiast. Some people also say that amd graphics cards age better, which means you can still play newer games in a few years at a low but playable state with amd gpus

Really, that's news to me about aging better. Great to know, will definitely go for one of these then. It's going to be my first tho (before I had Nvidia and also those chinese ones.) so idk what I should look for. Thanks for all the help !!!

No problem. Intel is also coming out with their graphics cards next year for the first time so idk if those will be cheaper than amd ones but amd has a better track record since they've been in the game for a long time.

This will be the future. Expect a long shelf life for the upcoming RTX 3xxx series from Nvidia.

do you remember when they skipped over the 800 series completely. It was like: hey guys, we get gtx 680, then 780, and SURPRISE!!!! 980! Class clown sitting in the back of room: "WARES MA 880?! I WAN MA 880!" *references the simpsons episode where bart demands to have an elephant from a radio show contest* :ROFLMAO:

Backward compatibility on two things. First is the extent. Second is what it brings to the table. If it improves the performance while possibly upscaling the resolution, that would be cool. Especially if it's covering multiple generations. That's part of the reason why I'm kind of confused on why Sony currently has backward compatibility with PS4 and we still don't officially know the full extent of it. Whereas Xbox has been working on expanding the backward compatibility with OG Xbox and Xbox 360, while being totally backward compatible with the Xbox One. Pretty much the only thing off the table are the Xbox Kinect games.

The answer I have to that is we won't know till we know .. upscaling the resolution would be great though and I'm definitely hoping that's what they will offer but we'll have an answer in the months to come

We do know how Xbox is handling stuff though. At the very least, it'll improve performance of older games while upscaling and adding HDR to games through HDR reconstruction. And if it's an Xbox One game that's been optimized for the next gen consoles, even higher performance and/or raytracing.

wow, I did not know that I'm sorry I'm a little biased when it comes to PlayStation but that sounds like Xbox will have the upper hand in graphics as usual and performance. some studios have stated that the performance of the ps5 is really good but who knows.
